plz could you give me an idea of courses i need to do
your views on the fastrack courses

and any thing you think may help me do this thankyou

Hi Legzi
I did my city & guilds 6129 level 2 with OLCI in Bristol, thoroughly enjoyed the course both practical and theory. It wasn't cheap £5621(you can do it interest free over 12/30 months).I would do the course again without hesitation,I learnt so much.I know it is only the first rung on a very long ladder, but hey you have to understand the basics before you progress.
Good Luck

I think if youv'e passed the 6129 you can call youself a plumber(If you pass 6128 I'm led to believe you can't).However just because I passed my 6129 practical/theory course doesn't make me a plumber in the real world, that will hopefully come with experience. But on paper I guess it does.

so were do the nvqs come into this i thought u need lv2 nvq to be qualified whats the difference between nvq and the one you have

NVQ is on the job assessing of your skills
6129 is tech certificate done in college/training centre theory/practical workshop assesments not the real world of work!

6129 doesn't make you a plumber. An NVQ doesn't make you a plumber.
The knowledge you gain is valuable but you could buy a couple of books which contain all the information and you could buy tools and some plumbing materials with which to practice to your hearts content. You'd save about £4000 and you'd be just as much a plumber.

If you want your NVQ, which I would recommend, it would require the 6129. Just don't get your pants pulled down paying for it because it isn't worth thousands.

I would take an experienced plumber which no qualifications over someone who has bought qualifications.

look at the add top right of this page ,short course ,easy to do .100% pass rate, earn £30,000 no probs,if you beleive that just send the proberble £5000 it will cost you to me,i will make up a certificate for you on my john bull kit, simples. your in building trade already you must know a plumber ,ask if he needs help, learn from him go to night classes at local tec ,so you can still earn while you learn.lot of fast track trainees leaving cources think got paper must be a highly qualified plumber then cant get job because employers want 5 years post training experience

Cynical, but Oh so right, 60 odd years man and boy, on the tools, and still learning, mostly another language though now:p

so wen i go for a college course i need to go for the 6129 then ill prob get a mates job

does no
one use the search button

there are no shortage of plumbers

there are no 30000gbp jobs for newbie 6129 people

employers can pick and choose now

theres a lot of "meets min wage adverts now"

cost of setting up self employed min 5000
decent van/tools/insurance/advertising

immigration once again has shafted uk workers
