Just wondering how long you guarantee your work for I have seen as little as 30 days and as long as 5 years this is not for goods supplied just for the pipe work you have installed

sale of services act covers example a new washing machine not how its connected to the mains water pipe.

a lenght of copper pipe is guaranteed but not how you soldered the joint.

Strange that, because In addition to the requirements about
installation (page 19) and contracts for
the supply of consumer goods to be
manufactured or produced (see above)
there are specific requirements in the
Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982
about the provision of services.
The Supply of Goods and Services Act
1982 requires that a service be provided
with reasonable care and skill, within a
reasonable time and, where no price is
agreed, cost no more than a reasonable
charge in England, Wales and Northern
Ireland. The Act does not apply to certain
sectors which are governed by specific
statutes (e.g. the carriage of passengers
and goods). The Act does not extend to
Scotland, but common law there has similar
effect, and suppliers of services or their
customers should obtain legal advice. And I was thinking that the plumbing service I provide is just that ,,, a service.

Until I get to my van or the cheque clears!!:)

Seriously I always say 12 months for work, but honestly I hardly ever get called back to repair stuff unless I have used rubbish plastic valves for example. Even after 12 months then I think I would repair it for nothing out of pride, unless it was obviously damaged by the user.

if a , say , hep socket blew that you installed 6 weeks previous and you say you had a 12 month guarentee .. would you charge for the repair?

Many moons ago I had a faulty hep elbow in a wall behind a shower. Hepworth paid the full cost of replacement including all redecoration works after they had examined the fitting and found a defect.
