Phillips wife

Hi there,
I am a newbie to this site, so apologies if this posting has found its way to the wrong place.
I had an under sinkwater heater ( Europrisma 10 ltr 2kw) fitted to a refurbished one bed rental ground floor flat. The cold feed was within a metre of the position of the heater and it DID need a pressure release valve fitting as our pressure was 5 bar? The hot went to the sink, obviously, and another hot went to an en suite less than 3 metres away. How long should this have taken?
We chose this water heater because all the reviews rated it highly and said it was easy to install. Our plumber has charged for 16.5 hours and part of another day of 7 hours, so potentially it could have taken 23 hours. Am I missing something?
All advice would be very gratefully received.
The flat is small and the " kitchen" is just 4 x kitchen base units wide, our plumber said it was fiddly, but surely all under sink water heaters are fitted in a small space?
I telephoned the Ariston helpline and they said "one day max for fitting"
I do hope you will be able to advise.
kind regards,
Mrs Phillips

How long is a piece of string. Without seeing the job its impossible to say. Did it need an expansion vessel, pressure relief valve to be drilled out? Too many variables.

As above, without seeing the job it's hard to say....
Was a new electrical supply needed, was the pipework route to the ensuite torturous, was the PRV route a nightmare, was fitting the pressure reducing valve to your incoming supply a pain etc etc.

Well. We fitted a 100l unvented and it took 2 hours to fit the water heater. 3 days to install new supply and upgrade 3phase consumer unit. It was on external wall and no issues and not in a unit .

The same length of time it will take to you to fix my car ;)

You have no idea what the issue is, what car it is, what parts it needs, where the car is, where the keys are to access the car. The list goes on!

Ask to speak to the plumber as to why it took so long and a good plumber will give a brief explanation

From my learnings no one job is ever a 'straight swap'. I have had baths out to 'straight swap' taps. Labour was more than the taps!

Im sorry guys but 3 days to fit a heater , sorry doesnt matter if he had big hassles 3 days is an absolute disgrace ( in my opinion) , the cold was there , elec there, even if he had to run pipe outside for a press relief and fit a ex vess its still way tooo long, but thats just my humble opinion

I think one plumber is either takin the **** or he really didnt know what he was doin , its just a shame for the customer because even @30ph thats 690 plus materials ouch n thats not inc heater , oh dear John Wayne

You should have asked for a price on the job. And any plumber worth his salt would have come, looked at the job PROPERLY, taken into account any awkward hurdles he may have had to overcome and priced accordingly. Then you could have taken or leave it and /or got another quote.
