How much are you guys looking to make on price work? Like your profit on swapping a combi? Upgrading gravity hw to combi?
Bathroom suites?
I ask as ive got a mate whos gsr who makes £1k on every boiler he fits but every job i price im losing to guys taking a wage (or getting boilers off the back of a van)
Long story short it has me thinking i must be charging too much and just want to compare with the guys on the forum and see what the going rate it.
Last week i swapped an old alpha for an ideal mini. Was done in a day and made £450 alright for a day but my mate says im too cheap.

It all depends what you are happy with and what you need to make. I'd be happy with that sort of profit on a combi swap.

Thing is my buddy only installs worcester or vaillant so i know he aint cheap. Ive recently spent alot on improving my image and he walk around like a scruff. Its almost like people associate well presented tradesmen with having too much money and being ripoff merchant COUGH! bg...

yes but does your mate MAKE £1k on every install, or does he say he does, cause ive stood in the pub and bought drinks for these kind of mates who "dont have any cash on me"

Have to agree, 1k per boiler swap sounds like bs. Maybe somewhere down south, but probably not in this climate.

Thats partly the reason im asking what people are charging, if i could get away with making £1k on a combi swap why not? But seems to me like the profit margin is deminishing on fitting boilers and fitters are not making the same money on installs

We charge about £500 plus 30% on materials + VAT for a boiler swap, good for a days work.

I think the days of installers making a grand a day 3 days a week are long gone in general. To the OP, worth doing a few more reasonable priced ones to get your name out there, if you're charging £450 for 8-10 hours work that's decent still.

Unless your in the **** or Illegal Drug industry... which Id like to clarify I'm not!..

Personally I make £500 on a boiler swap, plus material markup.

£450 for a days boiler swap is good. The last 2 I have priced at £400 labour for the day plus 10% on materials I have lost down to being too expensive. It just seems everyone wants the cheapest possible nowadays and does not care about quality.

north staffs is hopeless to many plumbers. wish i could make 450 a day profit on a combi to combi swap never mind 1k i dont think even lawyers make 450 a day
