Hello everybody,

Hope you are all doing well. I have decided that I am going to do a door-door flyer drop and will be delivering 5000 flyers on foot with my girlfriend. How successful / unsuccessful are these? Are there any sort of area's/house types etc that I should target? Do you think putting them under peoples windscreen wipers around B&Q/Wickes etc is a good idea

Any experiences would be great

Cheers

Hello, I had 2500 postcard size flyers printed from vistaprint (pricey, will use a local printer next time). But they are good quality. I've had approx 5 jobs from them. Bit of advice...if you wanna do it quickly, target town centres etc with terraced houses...saves you walking up and down long drive ways all day...much more efficient this way!

Good luck with it.

I used to drop business cards through doors as I didn't feel that people would keep flyers for more than 3 seconds, let alone read them. I tended to get 1 immediate customer from 100 (5 per 500) and then another 5-10 during the next 12 months - all for small jobs though.

And rather than go for easy letter boxes, I'd make the effort to go up lots of paths and driveways. When you get a job in these properties, parking is usually much easier.

i find if i get a call from a flyer drop, i get the job simply because they only have my number to hand and i try my best to make a great 1st impression. from a garden tap to a full bathroom suite.

maybe 1 call from 200 usually but have had quite a few from one day out on them. what grinds my gears is the fact that people have ridiculously stiff draught excluders in there letter boxes and by the time your flyer is through it looks like an empty crisp packet. ive also taken to stapling a letter on stating that 'we are currently working on a project in your area, blah blah' or something to that effect which seems to add extra presence to it.

Ever see companies saying quote ref: hfc01? (or similar) for a 10% discount

This enables the company to see where the customer got their details from

If you dont do a call out charge and only charge for time on job put on your card quote ref: NC01 for no call out charge and you will see how many people use your flyers/business cards

Alternative ask customers where they got your details from, they will always be honest

We are in the process of distributing 10,000 at the moment. Hopefully generate some work from there.

Done a business plan course in Liverpool uni a while back and the experts say whatever the amount of advertising you do, the average feedback success rate is 5%.

So get clever and look for local business magazines and try advertising in these, as they are a great way to find other business contacts to help your company grow plus most are really cheap to advertise in.

Myself and a friend, in all our naivety tried the walking on foot root with 500 fliers, and true to form we had received 23 calls with only a handful turning to fruition.

(Stay away from council estates, housing association estates etc. )

Exhaust the friends and family route as word of mouth spreads if your standard of work is good

Save the soles on your trainers or boots as the flyer route in my experience, comes across as a bit desperate or possibly even cowboyish,
Plan well and advertise properly.

cheers......Phil

Hi. I have found quality not quantity works. Target an area that you feel will generate the type of work your geared up for. Say 1950,s semi detached. Knock the door, tell them what your at, leave the flier with them. I found it returned between 6 to 7 percent on calls. Good luck
