At this time of year we run out of water (living in the mountains in Italy) When we call they eventually come out and refill the hamlets water cistern ... what i want to do is put in another storage cistern about 1000 litres. How would i link it into my existing shower, toilet system ?? Does the tank need to be high for gravity feed ... can i fit a pump. When there is water in the town cistern it reaches us by a pressure pump.
Advice needed Cheers...:38::rockon2:

Don't want to give you the obvious advice about getting them to refill it before it's empty but......

Anyway, you say your water is boosted, is it boosted into a tank or direct to your taps, so in essence mains pressure? If you don't have a tank it could get messy.

Hi Simon, No... When we turn our taps on here their pump kicks in and pumps water to us... When there is water magically coming out of the mountains it collects and fills their cistern we were told it holds 15,000 liters but the cistern was probably put in personally by Il Duce and with frugal use we are only getting
( 7 people in our hamlet ) ... 4days use... Sadly VUS (Valle Umbria Servisio ) are in damage mode because Umbria is in drought and their plan B is to truck the water in...
Cheers Lewis

Hi, you could put a tank in high enough but unless it is very high the pressure would not be great. You could put in an autoclave which is a pressurised system with a pump, probably not cheap though maybe 1000 euros, not sure you would have to check with your local plumbers merchant. The pump may also be 3 phase so you would have to put in a 3 phase supply. In addition if you store water it may not be potable, although your town supply may not be potable anyway.
One other thing to consider is, how would your neighbours feel if they do not have water and you do, especially if your tank was filled from the village supply?
