I want to change the rad in mine and my Mrs houses for a tower rad.
could you please explain how to move a radiator both for a for a system with a filling loop and also with a tank.

It would be much appreciated!

Thanks

why have you got both???doesnt seem likely

Because he owns a house and his Mrs owns a house!🙄

Easiest method is to use a pipe freezing unit/kit to freeze the pipes feeding/leaving the rads cut and cap the ends, fit new rad and feed pipes back to original pipework and refreeze and make joints. Saves the cost of draining down and refilling along with all the hassle of airlocks. Dont forget to drop the pressure on the system boiler first. Best advice is to pay a plumber to do the work, only 2/3 hrs plus parts and no hassle, diy equals leaks and no heating for 3 days plus callout fee for plumber to get things right, omho, but water and learners = good little earners🙄

Thanks,

I'm oh'kay at plumbing, can solder well and I always make sure the joints are straight.. I do not, however, know central heating systems well and have never touched them until now.

I guess I'll have to buy a freezing kit to save the cost of chemicals and a plumber. Of which I do employ regularly with my work If something is out of my depth. I just want a crack myself at this.

How would I go about it if they are the small pipes.. The same by any chance.. well I thinks so... 😕

Thanks again

not sure what the sarcastic roll eyes is all about
if i refer to my house i refer to it as mine and my wifes not 2 seperate houses and i didnt understand why he was asking about combi/unvented as the method is different for each🙁🙁

well it says mine and mrs so perhaps its just a casual mrs and not one her lives with - either way i see where your coming from newbie i thought the same when i first read the post - as for buying a freezing kit just to do this job... bit silly really... unless your thinking of getting the cheap one ? in that cas emake sure you know how to use it!!! or have some push fit stop ends handy incase itr doesnt work lol

Thanks for advice, Push fit stop ends sounds a dam good measure.

If I do the two successfully I'll probably do it more regular as my job requires that some times.

if you read the thread it makes sense, 2 houses 2 systems🙄
as for freezing kit, i advised him to use a plumber but you could also use can kits at £8.00 each x 8 = £64.00 still cheap, but you can always hire an electric freezing unit for 35-40 squid , but i didnt suggest he bought one if you read my thread🙂

actually read what i said again and you might have a better understanding
if you share a car it is yours and your wifes
if you share a house it is in the plural sense not singular again so keep your sarcasm to yourself
i was merely trying to ascertain what system he had combi or unvented as it seemed strange to ask about both

now now
all this bickering does not look professional does it!

Just to be clear

I can freeze on any system as suggested. Is that correct?

yes any of the systems can have the pipework frozen,I would cut pipe work and fit valves to save re-draining

I would isolate rad with existing valves on each side and crack one rad valve and drain into bowl,if you tie plastic bag around valve and drape into bowl to collect water
remove rad and then freeze the two pipes to the valves and fit isolation valves,re,run to were you want, fit towel rail plus rail valves and open valves and vent
as said above saves on any chemicals and should not get into trouble and have to call someone out, follow instructions on can to the letter and have all fitting you need to cap/valve pipe before you cut pipe work

Hi bathroom fittin.
You can freeze any system as long its not circulating, make sure the pump is off.
