Discuss how to refuse work on bodged shower in the Showers and Wetrooms Advice area at Plumbers Forums

I have been asked to run power to a new shower installation, only thing is when i went to see it they had tiled then decided that they wanted a shower as an afterthought!!
The water pipe comes down from the bottom of the shower, along the top of the bath, down the edge of the bath and along the floor to the tap end. The bath panel won't fit back properly and it just looks total carp.
How would any of you go about refusing this work politely?

Hi, Just contact the client and point out that as a professional your conscience will not allow you to carry out this work on a sub standard installation. As you would feel guilty by association. Good Luck

Step one, As a rule never turn work down, if you genuinely want it and feel you have the competence to do it

Step two, Offer to carry out work on their shower, but say that you would prefer to redo a part or all of the existing installation to get it to the standard that you usually work to and that would meet all the current regulations etc

Step three If you really cannot be bothered to do the work or your not competent enough to do such work, be honest with yourself and the client, and tell them that your not upto it. There is no reason to make up self important excuses why not. There are many more fish in the sea for both parties, and it will not be the last time you have to be honest, and decline work good luck
