How to reprogram Danfoss thermostat as its gone off

I'm trying to reprogram my partners Danfoss thermostat. I've set date and time and moved on to try set it up to come on and off as its continually on all the time currently.
I pressed reset as per instructions as per online instructions and then pressed prog and up arrow but its now gone off all together!! I've changed the batteries and its still dead. Any ideas what I can do gratefully appreciated
