Went to this today. Customer lives in housing Assoc property and says can smell gas. Also states annual service was done on boiler and fire last week and that the "girl" who serviced the fire just dabbed it with a paint brush and used an aerosol !

As we all know, this type of burner really needs washing out .

How come you got called to a HA property?

i wouldn't believe a word the tenant says unless I saw the cp12, they make up all sorts when they think they might be charged for something.

coal effect nice ! at least she should have rattled the burner tubes to get the fluff out.

That a Robinson visa? Never seen them with the spark on the right like that.

some housing assoc are not covering fires in my area now they are saying if they want a fire its the tennants responsibility. customer asked me to remove the fire and fit electric one

cant see how they can say this if its a council fire? They are also responsible for the flue system so it needs checking even if the fire does not get a full service.

Why do they need washing out?

Only ever done that as a last resort if the flame picture is poor, not as a matter of course.

i agree though i have a vac that blows as well so suck it out anblow from the burners as well also if its really bad take it to my local garage and use the compressor

dont ya find its worse if theyve got laminate flooring and pets, nothing to catch the fluff.

yep had an old lady that used to brush her hair in the mrror over the back boiler couldnt work out why the boiler always had hairs in the boiler and fire cos she didnt have a dog then questioned her then she told me she brushed her hair over it it made me chuckle

My MO..out in the garden and a couple of pans of water over the burner. Blow out the excess with a guage tube to clear the burner, fire it up and it soon dries out lovely and blue :)
