Hi,

I attended a job with no heating but perfect hot water. When heating is selected status goes to 'c' and burner goes solid on for about 20 seconds then goes to flashing. No fault codes.

I initially suspected the diverter but oddly the flow pipe from the boiler is roasting and the return is cold. No rads get any heat. 10mm pipework, I took a water sample and its clear.

I suspect the pump but doesn't explain the perfect hot water and it appears to be working with no air lock

Have all the rads been switched off over the summer and not turned back on or poss airlock but not likely.
If the pump was gone would expect lock out on temp of boiler as pump has to circulate water through other side of plate heat exchanger & heat cell whilst providing the hot water to the taps.
Just my guess,
Hope it helps,
Andy

I checked the rads and they are all on but stone cold. I agree that the pump is unlikely, its almost like the return is blocked some how??

The pump is still working as hot water is OK and you get a roasting flow pipe from the boiler (until it disappears into the wall). I thought maybe it is just failing and not pumping hard enough to get the water round the rads as it is a 10mm system??

Mark.

Filter/gauze in return to boiler ?
Have you checked that ?
It can only be something restricting or slowing flow

Well I strange one this, I checked the filter and drained the system and found a little crud in the valves but not blocked.

When I left yesterday it was not working and got a call today to say that it started working this morning. so blockage must have cleared on its own so I guess I will never find out where the cause was.
