Hi pjgas :)

Sounds like you have a plate heatex lined with magna IMHO, specially as you've had to change a sticking diverter! was it covered with black gunk when you took it out?

hello diamond gas yes the cartridge was a bit sludged up looks like a new heat hex had a look on e bay they are going for around 80 90 pound but to look at some of them they look like the old ones fitters have took out and put in the new bags got to be careful do you recomend any sites

I would have said to check diverter valve first, as you have done this and changed it and are happy the valve is actually doing its job (white clip moving when hw or ch selected) then it could only really be the heat exchanger. Take it off and blow down it to see if its blocked. If so and you want to save money, put a cleaner in there ie citric acid. not sure what the heat exchanger is made from so check that its ok to be cleaned with whatever cleaner you decide to use. Reinstall and let us know how you get on, the hex could be damaged beyond repair and it may just be better to buy new
