Hi, from a non-plumbing newbie,

I have an Isar HE30, which was fitted at my late mother's flat under the Warmfront scheme. I now use the flat as a holiday apartment and the boiler has just turned into a water feature for the third time.

This far, the boiler has been regularly serviced, had a total rebuild and a new diverter valve when it failed. What has now happened three times is that the plate heat exchanger seals have failed (i.e. the O-rings have been blown out of place). This gives a serious water leak (1.5 metre wide puddle on the floor). The boiler goes 'bang' when this happens.

On this problem, the boiler has had two new exchangers. It already had a water expansion chamber in the incoming pipework (dunno what it's called) and it now has an adjustable pressure regulator, set to (I believe) 4 bar. And it's let go again.

Experience with another installation has shown that this boiler is a pile of poo. But has anyone any idea what can be done to stop this problem occurring? And, if I have to bin the thing, what's a good replacement to go for?

Many thanks.

ya, ok gasman i agree most are but as you see he has it at 3bar,, should be only 1 1/2bar

It should be between 1 and 1.5 bar, and it will rise on its own when in use. I really would just scrap the thing and start again it will just cost you more in the long run

and it now has an adjustable pressure regulator, set to (I believe) 4 bar. lol my friend.

not if the bleeding thing is full of gunk and that other stuff like number 2, , just off topic whats the score on "B" rated i thought you can not fit now?

just off topic a little but what have they done with all the B rated boilers left over, surely they can't have all been sold.

on flee bay!!!!!! and he will fit for £900 all in baxi potterton performa if i rememmber right

all the 105he and performas are in my reps possession hes gonna do me a deal joking lol if you ask you will find

just got me thinking, I have a B rated boiler at home so it might be worth if i can find one buying its for parts

Well, thanks, people,

I only believe it's at 4 bar...I'm not certain. I want to be able to advise the engineer when he shows on Monday.

So, keep the ideas coming :D
