Hia, I ve currently got a glow worm ultimate which i`m going to swap to a combi due to an extention to the house. Been looking at the Ideal Logic + HE30 as it gives a 5 year warranty. Is this a decent boiler and would you recommend a powerflush or just xp300? Had a case made for either but being a non plumber i could do with some impartial advice. The Glow worm is 13 years old by the way and thanks in advance.

Don't go down the Ideal Boiler route, total rubbish and the gtee won't be honoured.Viessmann or Vaillant

Its a known fact that recent Ideal boilers have not been good although I have never had any Garuantee problems no matter how problematic the boilers have been. There are other threads suggesting that you don`t touch ideal with a barge pole but the logic + does appear to be much better than previous ideal boilers. Although I have not fitted any, I do know folk who have and they do seem to better

Do you have to get The boiler manufacturer to service the boiler to keep up a warranty?

no, a gas safe registered engineer can do the work, and going from a glow worm to an ideal is not a choice i'd make, if a manufacturer had a poor history then they need to prove to me they have changed and this has not happened yet with either glow worm or ideal.

most boilers state 5/7/10 year guarantee

as stated above ideal dosnt have a good reputation amongst most plumbers - myself included !

check out the broagg remeha eco's

Nothing wrong with new Logic.
All componets are class leading, 5 year parts and labour warrenty.
One of the best combis out there at the moment.
Fitted a few, no problems.
Know fitters who have fitted 50+ with no issues.
Can not be compared with Ideal of the past.
Dan

Cheers for the info. Most plumbers seem to recommend different boilers for some reason. If the warranty is ok then I`ll prob go with the Ideal. I think maybe as long as you get them fitted properly and commisioned right then thats a good start.

Having asked our advice, and seen that most plumbers wouldnt use an ideal boiler why on earth do you then go and opt for an ideal, pointless really coming on the forum and wasting peoples time:eek:

Most plumbers would nt use the old ones but the new one has no bad reports as yet and seem good, if you take the trouble to read about it. However after consideration i`m not buying an ideal because of their history, stuff the warranty i ll be going for one with a better rep and history + easier parts etc.

couldnt live with myself if i didnt reply to that. espececially "one of the best combis out there at the moment"
without being pushy, i can make a pretty sure guess that - at most - there will be one more professional on this site that agrees with you !!
get someone to second your view and i will quite happily eat my cat billy (named after piper) she keeps running away - so i can probably fob the missus off with a sad story - will post pics !

Explain please? have you had experience of this boiler??

tibbs - there are some really good boilers on the market, and some great prices at the mo. i always harp on about my remeha ecos - there are others. ideal is not a great boiler - accordinging to others on site they are good tho (according to others) i havnt met a good ideal boiler yet - i'm sure i will eventually.
this is my own opinion and not that of the site.

I think i`ll stay away from these now.As a non plumber its easy to be blinded by the sales bluff but if they have nt made a good boiler by now then they prob never will.
