i have an ideal mini c28 about 6 years old. the ch works fine however the dhw doesn't come up to temp. the boiler fires up when you open the tap and the flow is as per normal it just sits at its min temp (aprox 35 c). the temperature/pressure gauge is not registering any temperature at all. anyone got any ideas? having read the service manual i'm leaning towards changing the water temp sensor or having a go a cleaning the water flow valve. any advice gratefully received as we have a 5 month old baby and we need hot water and could do with trying something before calling an engineer:confused:

the manual has a fault finding chart@ idealheating.com/downloads/manuals/mini
i would say diverter or temp thermistor asfixer said, see if you can identifiy anything from codes.. does it try to fire when you run dhw???

let heating side cool down then run hot tap see if the flow pipe on the heating gets hot.... u could be right kennedy its hard to fault a boiler when ya not stood in front of it lol

thankyou all for your prompt replies, i'm at work at the mo keeping the worlds dogs supplied with snacks and treats, i thought everyone else would be out enjoying the weather! i had the boiler apart last night when i got home and will be attacking it again tonight. to answer your questions, yes it is a combi, the gas ignites when you turn the hot tap on, some more info when the ch was running and i turned the hot tap on the flow reduced but the water was hot for a short while, then it reverted back to full flow at low temp. i have access to the pcb so will have a look tonight at what the leds are doing. once again many thanks for your replies
cheers

if flow pipe gets hot in dhw mode its plate heat exchanger which may in turn wreck the diverter you also need to take the resistance of the dhw thermistor its not unknown on this boiler for the diverter bush to burst, wrecking the black motor or for the spindle to jam causing this fault
