been out to this boiler no heating no hot water found pump was stuck and overheat had tripped freed pump reset overheat all running fine job done 3hours later phone call boiler as stopped working so off I go pressure dropped topped it back up no response noticed drip coming from expansion vessel nipped out side prv letting water out customer asked can you fix it yes but before I do lets find the fault found intermittent fault on flow switch and pressure switch so tells customer its not worth the parts and labour needs a new boiler answer to that was its a good boiler and its never gone wrong before ok no problem will price the parts told them price of parts answer was is that including fitting no that's the parts well can you get the boiler going without of them then we'll think about new boiler put my tools in the van gave them a card and told them to phone me if it gets cold

I swear it was one of these boilers I had to change a heat exchanger on. It was an insurance job and they offered them over a grand to scrap it as they had never had a call out to it. The customer asked me what I thought I said take the money get a new boiler and gave him a rough idea of how much and he went for the part. I went back and replaced it all worked fine then something else went. He went to the insurance and said I think I'll replace it now as the engineer said it would be a good idea how much did you say I get? Now because you made that claim nothing! I walked out because I couldn't stop laughing.

If they have never gone wrong and not needed any part for 10 years once they start going wrong scrap them as all the parts will be queuing up to go wrong so a trustworthy boiler turns into a costly boiler.
