Ideal logic plus vs baxi duo tec

same warranty, similar price, Ideal is easier to fit, but i've always quite liked pottertons

However build quality, which is better, and which more likely to give customer trouble?

fitting one for a family member, and assuming no family row in the next 7 years i'm going to be fixing and servicing it for free

baxi

Logic plus has a few advantages from a tec point of view.

ive been fitting loads of logic + and vogues and love them.

baxi, much better build quality than a logic, also i have heard logics are having a few main hex failures

thats 3 to 2

thought they'd be no clear winner, i'm leaning duo tec because £100 extra for 10 year warranty

ironically just seen this on FB 1 year old logic heat exch failure today..not good..how many more..chris billington?..installed on a grant.not by me..but for my rep i wouldnt install them..gonna stick to vogues and high end baxis..

Thats old news.
All a sorted ages ago.
They used to be cast in Hull.
Now done far east and actually better quality than UK effort

Logic + for preference. Although I haven't fitted many Baxis so it's just familiarity rather than knowing it's a better boiler...

Logic, purely down to the fact that the baxi after care is shocking. They do all they can to wriggle out of repairing anything under warranty.

I think both are great boilers. but i would choose logic over Baxi duo tec purely for these reasons

1. logic so much easier to fit. the jig on a baxi can be a arse sometimes especially on slightly uneven walls.
2. Ideal aftersales way better in my personal experience. Baxi have tried to wriggle out of warranty.
3. better reward scheme for installers although baxi does come a close second.
4. Ideal Rep lives around so great for free shirts and stuff as i just pester him til he gives in LOL

in fairness the stainless steel hex will always be better in terms of robustness/corrosion resistance but the Hex issue on logics as stated was fixed very early on its life. plus the alluminium hex gives better heat transfer (approx 3 times better) and is absolutely fine if fitted onto a clean system and that is important. saw a Biasi activa with an ally hex that rotted through in 6 months on system with treacle for water.

ive seen plenty of broken logics and plenty of broken duo tecs and 80% of the time its down to water quality where no proper flushing has been done when fitted.

End of the day its a machine with moving parts its gonna break down at some point. it depends on which company will give you less hassle on a warranty issue.

I probably fit both in equal measure. More baxi at the moment as get a crackin deal on duotecs i just cant get anywhere near with logic+.

But for a newish house with low heat loss - logic+ as it modulates down much lower than a duo and opentherm ready.
Both pith easy to work on and install
