You probably got that bit right:lol:
You are young so have a better chance than those older than you to get an apprenticeship. Now is about the time anyone thinking of starting an apprentice will do it. There are not as many places around as there once was but there are still some.
I'm afraid your plumbing and electric basic quals are probably not going to help much. They prove nothing much and are really not recognised in the real world.
Very few smaller companies are taking on any boys but some might. Concentrate on the bigger firms and councils but try the smaller firms too. Try all the energy firms, BG, SSE, EoN etc as they take apprentices too. Refrigeration, try some lorry places. They do refrigerated lorries and need engineers and probably trainees too. Go through the phone book, look up the internet to see who is building any big jobs that are round your area and you should be able to find out who the mechanical contractors are. Write to everyone you can think of and if somewhere is near enough do a personal visit and don't just do it once, pester them. It shows you are keen.
It can be very down heartening when you have gone through 50 firms and been knocked back by them all but try to keep at it.
If you or your parents know anyone who works for any of these big companies they may be able to get you a foot in the door with a chance of at least an interview. Most times it is down to who you know.
Sometimes it is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time and a bit of luck.
Good luck. I hope you find something.
