Immersion heater element leak (appears internal).

I fitted this titanium element a few months back. It has been working fine until called by the customer following the thermostat tripping. Subsequent inspection shows a small leak inside the element connections, though, I could not see any evidence of water around the thermostat so, presumably, has not come from the (stat) sheath. No doubt this item will require replacement but would anyone have any explanations as to what has caused said leak?

Had this happen a few times mate. I live in a hard water area so the lime scale is the main problem causing leaks. If it's only a few months old it will be under warranty but obviously won't cover your time.

Yeh corrosion , or even a bad join on the sheath ,

had a stat sheath drop off completely the last time I worked on one, Corporal Jones had nothing on me running around looking for some working isolating valves

Yep seen loads too, probably just not manufactured 'just right'.

Very much appreciated, guys. I have had a few 'issues' with this type of element but not with the described symptoms. I will simply replace it and return it to the supplier. Cheers.
