Hi all,

I looking for some advice. I've been plumbing (domestic) for 5 years and recently lost my job. I've been working for myself for 3 months and its been going great. I'm always looking to progress my learning and would really love to be able to attract more work so i was thinking about branching into the commercial side of plumbing.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about courses that are available in plumbing and gas work.

Thanks

From my experience con boilers arnt as simple as Dom.

Plumbing is just the same but bigger. But yet again more regs. Usually large jobs will be done from a consultant and drawings.

Start small and see what you think of it.

I wouldn't go blowing 3.5k on com gas. Unless you can gaurantee the work. Sub it to start and watch what they do.

On large boiler houses once you have done one most are all the same.
Pipes biggers mostly black iron. Getting used to the fitting and using a threading machine and your on to a winner. You could be a commerical industrial boiler house for weeks and months depending on size of job.

Totally different ball game from-

qualifications = cost
insurance = cost
payment terms wait 30/90 days for payment = cost, they will always pay on receipt of invoice when desperate however the book keeper is never available to sign the cheque !!

I have looked into it many times but looks a bit risky to me compared to domestic works.
