Hi,

I've been cleaning my central heating system, and soon I will need to add inhibitor. I've just bought some X100 and now I'm wondering if this is ok for a cast iron boiler. I assume the cast iron is the cause of all of the black sludge I've just cleaned out of the system.

Cheers, Camerart.

It's from radiators as well, X100 should be ok, I use Fernox myself, what did you use to clean system ??

First I used my plumbers merchants own make, I had doubts so I also used x400. Both failed to get it clean so I removed the hot water tank and flushed it with a hose pipe also down the 28mm pipes through the boiler.

What about radiators ? did you flush them ? best to remove each one and flush with hose pipe, waste of time putting inhibitor in if system still full of dirt ! Use F5 cleaner, F3 inhibitor

Ok, but I think it's pretty clean now, the rads are hot all over.

I've bought X100 now, so I'll have to use it. I also have a ltr of My plumbers merchants own brand, I was now going to use it, but do you think I can mix them for a better strength?

Cheers, Camerart
