What is the difference between commercial installation and commissioning gas equipment and can one engineer do both?

Do commercial gas engineers generally specialise in installing or commissioning?

I'm not ticketed in commercial gas, I'm domestic gas myself. So I'll tell you that I can both fit and commision ch sytems/natural gas appliances. So I'd presume (but I stress the word presume) that it will be the same with the commercial guys. Hope that helps

i'm the same, but the domestic ticket covers you for both as you cannot install without commissioning ( i suppose you could cap after install and get someone to commission but it is unlikely)

Commercial tickets (CIGA1/CDGA1) cover installation, servicing and commissioning of appliances.

Some firms have pipefitters with Commercial Pipework/Purging tickets who do the installation and an engineer with appliances (CIGA/CDGA/CORT) will commission the appliance.

i did alot of commercail in the past and only had the old acops as it was. we never ever commissioned the gas side of the systems and often not the wet side as the systems were very sophiticated. special engineers from the boiler manufacturers usual comes out at the completion of installation

you can install, without commisioning. some firms have many engineers, some are quicker at installing, and some are good at commisioning.
so long as you have the appropriate ticket you can install the aplliance - as its not commisioned you have to disconnect the gas supply - in commercial that means simply turning off the gas control valve to the appliance. sometimes you do that then get the manufacturer in to commision it. (though they charge well for it - upwards of 600 quid !)
hope that helps
