Hi all. So what is the best way to remove an old flue from a 3rd storey flat with no access to the outside? A new boiler is going Inn the position and ideally in would like to use the same hole. I just know the old metal flues are tricky to remove just from being inside.

Cheers all.

Tie a suitable length of string to it and tie the end to something in case it fall outwards. If you can't pull it through to the inside it can then be safely lowered down without causing a hazard. There is no way of getting round the scaffold option if you need to make good the brickwork though. Also as its a communal building you may need to speak to the maintenance or building management people.

Thanks for the quick response. I actually did think of the string idea. Will check with the maintenance people on site.

Will you have to drill a hole big enough to push the flue and weather collar through?

The whole is 125mm at present so probably.

Looks like old ideal response flue will just pull back through and the weather seal will drop off. Hopefully not onto a person's head

But you still need to seal the flue outside...how do you plan on doing that?
