What would a condensate pipe being unsealed be classed as? For example the condensate rubber flexi hose just being put into a bit of 32mm waste pipe instead of the jubilee clip onto Condy pipe then into a 32mmx21.5mm reducer?

The boiler should have an internal condensate trap so if it's just flapping about in a stand pipe then I'd say NTCS. Is there manufacturers instructions about?

Ive often wondered about this. If it has an internal trap of at least 75mm is it even ntcs?

Intergas for example recommend just putting there hose in a bit of 32mm waste

Unless I'm mistaken mate that's meant for a different post, unless you like your condense pipes "RARE".

A british gas engineer came to my house a year back and pointed out the condensate was unsealed (hanging into a piece of inch n quarter) He said fill it with silicone now and nothing will be said .. can only assume its NCS other wise i would have had some paperwork. Id stick a little piece of condensate in the rubber and clear silicone it if you cant get a fitting and a bung in.

Why would a BG engineer want you to fill with silicone, what if it had a tundish fitted would he have asked you to fill that with silicone to, I always presumed NTSC, AR and I'd was in respect of the gas side, if there is a condensate trap and the waste is as Mi's what is the problem, no Mi's with me at the moment but not sure they say seal the condensate.

engineer said it has to be sealed if not properly connected. The MI wont say seal the condensate of course, but they expect it to be connected properly surely. So i sealed it, he observed and he walked out.

Connect the flexible tube from the condensate trap to the drain via an open
connection. The condensate discharge system must be made of plastic, no o

this is taken from the intergas manual. Note the open connection, no other requirement just an open connection, if your boiler had been intergas and the BG engineer made you seal it, then you could have issued him a NTCS
