hi all. ok i know its not a van forum but i have been looking at a vauxhall combo van with 65000 miles. the dealer reckons that is nothing for a van, if this was a car id be backing right off. wot do you guys think?

its a 54 plate and he wants £2500 for it.

Yeah vans can handle much more milage , vauhall are one of the best too. Sounds an ok deal if its got enough m.o.t.

good stuff. what about cam belts? im definately not a mechanic so i have no idea wot to look for. but i have been told that the cam belts can start to go after the 60k mark. should i try to do a deal where it is changed? or are they cheap to replace?

:) think ill end up buyin it either way as it does seem like a good deal to me. :)

High-ish mileage for a 54 plate but who cares at that price....diesel engines will do 3 times that amount easily and more if looked after....

Diesels go on forever these days, to give you an example by 1997 Mondeo has done 140k and hasn't been serviced in 10 years in anyway.

If the vans got a full service history spot on, also try and get it serviced before you buy it if it hasn't been done (if it's a proper dealership it should be done).

Sounds like a pretty good price.

thanks for the advice everyone. i actually managed to get a really amazing deal on a vauxhall combo van the other weekend. 62k miles and only £2200 plus part ex on my old shed vw polo. all i got to do now is get a roof rack and make a pipe holder to stick on top.

nice one guys and gals.
