I have deck mounted bath taps with a separate shower hose to install. The shower head comes with a drainage box which is mounted underneath the deck to re-route any water that runs down the hose into the waste. Is this essential?? Space is very limited and I may not even have space to drill all 4 holes in the bath deck so I may put the shower head in a wall mounted/freestanding bracket anyway. If you buy a freestanding bath tap with shower hose, presumably this just drips onto the floor. It wont get much use apart from rinsing the bath so is it an issue?

You take your own chances with that one mate they obviously supply the drain box for a reason so it would probably be deemed foolish to not install it and if there were any issue in the future with wet floor etc then you would have zero recourse

Like Riley says - you ignore the supplied kit / manufacturer's instructions, the warranty is void. The customer will swear blind that it's only for rinsing the bath - you don't know that they won't one day decide they want a shower. Subsequent damage to floors, ceilings, etc etc would be on you!

That's a good point. It's for our own bathroom so we'd obviously be careful, but things may change in the future regards frequency of use I guess, kids etc. I just don't know what the difference is between having a floor standing unit with the hose out in the open, unless it's just a question of access to mop up any water. The bath won't be up against the wall but will probably only have a few inches clearance.

I would say Belt and braces mate do it properly then if anything does go wrong then you do have the manufacturer to lean on
