Hi...

I've been seriously considering becoming a plumber and have spent the past 3 years becoming completely debt free apart from a mortgage.

Problem I have is I still need to work to cover bills and cost of living and wondered if anyone has ideas about how I can go about becoming qualified whilst I do my current job or if it is possible to become a apprentice/mate and earn a reasonable salary whilst trying to qualify???

Having made the wrong career choice 10 years ago, plumbing I believe offers me all i need in a job... so really want to make this step as soon as possible...

Hi del boy if you go back through the archives of this forum you will see many similar threads to yours i have written one myself not so long ago.

So to summarise the fast track is the fastest way to gaining the entry qualifications to the trade but is the worse, most expensive, and possible the slowest way in to the trade as far as gaining employment many plumbers will tell you it is far better to take a college course but this is something that would take several years and probally wouldn't be a viable option as it wasn't for me and i was in a similar situation to you. There are a few guys on here that are very knowledgable and worth listening to your gonna have to wait for their response but dont be put off by what some will say about the fast track route some will have you beleive it is the route of all evil.
