Hi lads,

I was going to ask you guys if this would be possible. I wanted to put my glue through the old grill and block it off from inside as there is no other way of getting the flue out. I obviously will seal it properly off.
Below is the picture.
I will block of right at the front of the grill and from inside

I just double checked with Vaillant and they said it’s fine as long as it provides a seal. It’s perhaps not the greatest in the look but will do

Yes I can see the end of the flue from outside as normal. I was just thinking of what I could use to block it off completely? Any idea?

Brick it up and core a new hole
Or fit flue and brick it up

It’s fully sealed outside and inside. I wouldn’t leave the flue hanging outside the grill without making sure it’s blocked off. I can see plenty of people done it ...

I won’t be removing the white box but will remove the grill. I will then brick up

So if it rusts away and the bricks fall out also mortar won’t stick to steel

The grill is cast iron, the box is wood. Grill will be gone and wood will stay.
