I have an air source heat which worked fine through last winter. I have recently reconnected it after finishing other building work. When I started it up i found that the pump was not working and had seized up. I opened it up and found some rust or caking inside the chamber which I chipped off. The pump now works and starts up when the I turn the heating on but the heat pump keeps cutting out and heat does not seem to be distributed. Do these pumps underperform and need replacing or is there another blockage.
The pump is about 4 metres from the heat pump but does warm up while the heat pump is running.
The surrounding pipes are all plastic so feel much cooler than the pump which is metal.

Any thoughts on this would be great

If it had sized up replace it.

The pump will get hot as it will slowly heat itself up if it's not circulating.
