Is this asbestos? It's old pipe lagging roughly 1940s?

I've recently bought an old RAF estate house witch hasn't been touched since 1940. I removed some lagging stupidly without checking if it was asbestos just wondering if anyone can help me out? Cheers.

I'm certain that's what it is. I had a lot of this in my loft and it definitely was not asbestos.My house was built in 1936

It does look like Hair felt Lagging to me!
I obviously have not inspected it in the flesh though!

Asbestos looks totally different in colour and texture but I would wear a face mask and gloves if only to protect yourself from the dust and fibres in the air when removing old stuff.
