Just checking before I change valve it's not some new fangled press fitty business I'm unfamiliar with.

You should be able to reuse what there
Maybe get a 15mm compression straight and 2x adapters just incase

So it's just a regular TRV? But it doesn't seal with an olive inside?

But you can just join on the pipe with a normal compression coupler and bung an insert inside yeah?

you can convert to copper with a 15mm compression fitting and one of the adapters from shauns pic
Shouldnt need one but its always good to be prepared

Thanks all. Still confused as to what I will find inside that nut. An olive on a pipe? Something else? I will go for it anyway since everyone is saying can just swap. Just a cheapo bog standard TRV afterall.

So that rubber o-ring is presumably not actually creating a seal inside the valve body and it's the tapered brass bit acting as an olive that makes the seal?

Bit of both I would say. Oring is snug and profiled edge is same an Olive
