Hello all.

Many apologies for bothering you with this, I know everyone is rushed off their feet and sick of shortages, price increases etc.....!

Any advice would be most welcome......

So, these are the pictures from the boiler 'installation'. I am not a sparky, but wires hanging down in a bathroom is not a good idea in my book.

Maybe, times have changed, but I thought everything had to be run behind the walls/tiling......?

Have a feeling that the boiler is a second-hand unit as the rads came on when I turn the hot tap on, obviously I have set it to hot water only.

STILL waiting on the diverter valve under warranty!!!!

I am not going to 'name and shame' the person who did this, I want to know if this is legal?

Yes I can trunk it in, box everyting over, but when you are having a shave and you bang your head on the boiler above the sink, it is annoying.

Any help would be great.

It’s not the best installation, the boiler doesn’t look level. Regards the flexible cable, it’s probably ok. @Murdoch maybe able to confirm this. I think it’s usually fixed wiring that should be concealed.

Did you not ask the installer to relocate the boiler or did you not want to pay for this?

Doesn't look like the discharge is piped up.

And I believe that boilers in bathrooms should be in a cupboard.

Just a few to start,

Cables not adequately supported, too few clips on wall and no support under boiler.
Cables not restrained on the outer sheath in the junction box as pic below and quite possibly not in the boiler either.




Can't see a single pipe clip used.

There should have been discussion at quote stage to determine boiler location and the impact of it (head

😡 ).

Also regarding boxing in pipework or not.
I'd guess the old boiler had the flue direct out the back of the boiler, the installer should have picked a new boiler that could be installed that way.

And as EvilD, discharge doesn't look piped up.

A bit of mt3 trunking wouldn’t go a miss and easy enough to do yourself

They've never had their work scrutinised by someone who knows what acceptable is.
They've never been taught how to do that type of work correctly and to regs.
They've never bothered to take notice of the standard of work done by others and apply that standard to their own work.

It's quite likely that any work they do will be to a low standard, even if they've been trained and assessed previously on that type.

Basically they are working well outside their skill and knowledge level.
