hi all,
we're just finishing up having a loft conversion done. Plumbing was done a couple of weeks ago but only just had a proper look in the eaves and now I'm questioning whether the job was acceptable or not - some of the other work done on the project has been poor!

Should the pipes be fitted more securely than just propped up on 3 bits of timber? We already have a small leak from one of the joins - surely if the pipe gets knocked at some point in the future its just going to create more leaks.

And not sure what purpose of the vent is - but should it have been fitter externally? rather than in the eaves?

We haven't paid the final balance to the company and want to know whether to get the plumber back in.
thanks

Didn’t building control inspect it ?

It should be secured to the fabric of the building, and definitely not leaking. As above it is worth checking with BC about the internal AAV. Normally a stack should have an open vent outside, if this is an addition it may be suitable.

Interesting point. Did you originally have an open stack vent outside?

I'd check your AAV question with your BCO if you can (More pipe clips must be required, and not just to loose bits of wood)

Following floplast doc seems to have some guidance on when you need an external vent:

I would like to understand better though the blockage back pressure issue they raise. Also assume an open vent safely let's the sewer gases escape.

Cheers,
