Issue with Central Heating.

Hi, I have an issue with my Combi Boiler (Ravenheat CSI85 AAA(T). I know it isn't the best boiler but it serves a purpose and the time I've had its been great. It works fantastic from a Hot Water point of view, you run the tap and the boiler kicks in the water heats up. But the Central Heating on the other hand is a different story, for some reason it has stopped working. It hasn't been on for a few months as we haven't needed it on however this appears to be the worst decision I've made recently as the Central Heating now appears to be broken.

The fan is working, as is a the pump. My Thermostat is a nest and that is also working correctly however when you switch on the Central Heating it still won't kick in, I've tried to use the Boiler directly and the same result. It is almost as if the 'manual' button to turn the Central Heating on isn't functional properly either that or the part it is sending the 'message'to turn on to isn't working.

I have no fault code as one hasn't shown up and as far as Ican see the Boiler is working and functioning correctly apart one this one feature.

If anyone has any ideas as to what this could be I would be very grateful to hear as its getting to that time of year again where Central Heating is required and I have a little one to keep warm. Also, if anyone does have an idea what the issue could be if someone could also let me know how much it would cost to fix (roughly) and how long it would take to fix I would be very grateful.

Update: I am not trying to fix this myself and simply trying to understand what the fault code be before calling in a professional to do the job. Thanks again.

If you're not qualified to touch gas, you should stay well clear of trying to!

Hi APPlumbing, I am not qualified to touch gas and I have no intensions of doing it myself. I am simply trying to understand the issue before I call someone out to fix it for me. I have been ripped off by cowboys in the past and so if I can get advice based on what is working and what is not to understand from people that know boilers then I can get someone in to fix the problem and not rip me off in the process.

Also, I am trying to understand once I know what could be wrong how long it would take a professional to fix, a rough time / cost involved as stated at the bottom of my thread.

Hi APPlumbing, I never said that and I wasn't implying that everyone is I simply trying to get an understanding of the issue before calling someone in to fix it.

I am simply asking for a logical answer to my question, if a Combi Boiler is functioning 100% correctly for HW but for some reason when you either use the Boiler direct or the Thermostat it will not turn on the Central Heating why would that be?

Surely there is almost a checklist of reasons for why that would be that people in that profession would use to identify a fault (especially when no fault code is present) by process of elimination? and if giving the information such as the fan is working as is the pump surely the list must be getting smaller as to what could be wrong?

How about no.

You are not deemed competent in the eyes of the law to attempt to repair your boiler. We will not be giving you the information to try. Doesn't matter that you tell us you won't, we're not taking the chance.
