I'm having a spate of having to order stuff for jobs recently. Seems nearly very job I do I'm having to order spares for and go back.

Finally today I had a job that I thought I could finish, two normal rads out and a vertical tubular and cast iron column rad in. Customer supplied rads and just asked for a price for fitting. Fitting rads and couldn't get the column rad to heat up. Shut the other two rads on the ground floor down and it still wouldn't heat. Spent an age trying to clear the air lock when I checked the flow and return drops and they were both red hot. I traced the heating pipes in the cellar and found the flow and return looped back together after the last rad. The customer has had the system flushed and 3 other engineers look at it and they all concluded that the rad must be faulty.:mad2: Going back tomorrow to drain down again and cut the loop out.

I then nipped to a job, quick boiler service and prv dripping on unvented. Boiler is an Atag and on year 4 so need a gasket kit as it needs a strip, expansion vessel failed on unvented. More bits to order and return.

Final job, nip in and rewasher a mono sink mixer. It's a flipping ceramic disc, new tap required aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

AGA asked me to do a warranty job yesterday, so agreed and they said parts with me by 1200, spent all afternoon waiting for them, plus ****ed off custard blaming me on other end of the phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been running around with nothing to show for it too. visited 7 houses today. One job could only be half finished because when I first visited and quoted the external stopcock shut off, on my return - it didn't. Second one I had to come back because I forgot to turn their external stopcock back on when leaving. Third, inlet valve change, small window to do it: 3/8ths one needed, re-book. Fourth: Emergency call out. "Sound of water." Quick snoop about, concluded a joint had gone under a solid floor. No time to sort, £20 for advice, bugger off. Fifth: Emergency call out. Didn't mention money on phone. Wouldn't pay £70 for new inlet supplied and fitted despite fact water was off to house and I was there in 10 mins of a call. Goodbye then mate. Sixth: Leak on pan con. Flushed it 5 times. No drips. "Might have been my imagination. I'll keep an eye on it then" Seventh: Quote on something I could tell they were getting 50 quotes for. And they seemed annoying to work for. So I'm not interested. Should have stayed in bed.

I went out to my last job today, fit a new display/programmer on an ideal esprit 2 (like an isar) an reveal a shower.

i honestly expected no longer than 20 mins.

i did the display board within minutes, switched on an good news the display board now lit. Less than half a minute the fuse in fuse spur popped ??

Replaced it, then the fast blown fuse went on the boiler !!! I had none in the van ahhhhh.

checked round for any leaks etc, checked polarity etc an then went out for fuses. Got back an it just worked straight away ???

resealed shower, it was more like 2 hours in the end :(

Surely the pan con one you could have blagged, "oh yeh I can see it dripping"

Well I got back and got the first one finished this morning in just over 2 hours. Managed to save the inhibitor by shutting all the rad valves. Customer was made up, it's the first time in two years of being in the house that the lounge rad has got hot.

Did a nice cooker install this afternoon as well, didn't really want it so I'd quoted a ton and they said go ahead. As it turned out it was a piece of pish and I was done in half an hour.

My turn for a pish day. Combi swap then 2 services and repair...... Got to combi was that Baxi / remeha heap. Old valiant 837, just had new fan and pcb...... Custard said on phone to bird in office gas was defo 22mm and we have done lots of work for him so just turned up. 15mm doh! Gas rate and bp just to see if it was ok, the bloke who did repair must have checked it? 13mbar at boiler! So new gas line.... Oak floors...... 7 hours later and not done, service needs new insulation on 105 and other one easy but wants trvs. Repair..... It's a new boiler love!
