can some please explain an essex flange no funny answers plz
an essex flange is a tank connector you can fit from outside mostly used to add connections to cylinders where theres no way to insert a flanged tank connector from in side the flange is basicly oval and this pushes against a split washer that can be wound into the cylinder its easier than it sounds just dont let go till the nuts on
 
use a surrey flange, goes in the top and no dropping the nut.

+1 so much easier to fit., My missus is from Hornchurch in Esssex btw, unfortunatly its not true what they say about a girl from Essex:(
