I'm based in North West, but a builder down Newmarket I do work for round here would like me to do a job there.

job involves a pretty straight forward gas carcas ran along an outside wall an back into the boiler.

then basically commissioning new system, fitted by plumbers local (not gas safe)

I will also be fitting flue an condense...

just after a rough idea of what people are roughly charging on this type of job, cheers

It's his brothers house, he's a plumber he's going to do the rads an hang the boiler.

They wanted to see wether I would like to do the carcass, flue, condense an commission the boiler. I do a lot of work for his brother who has property up here, if not they will use somebody local

Isn't hanging a boiler gas work?

I didn't say it wasn't ?

Here is one for you, your on site an have a labourer working with you.

he hangs the rads etc, wouldn't you let him to hang a boiler because he isn't gsr ?

Haven't you gas guys had this conversation before? i.e. if he hung it and you commissioned and then it fell off the wall who's liable?

Then who will be legging it down the Rowley Mile?

Like I say, I'm sure I've seen this discussed before and I'm not having a go because work is work and if you do plenty for them then you don't want to compromise that.

How about saying yes you'll do it but say that you want to hang the boiler as well just to make sure? Get the plumber to just leave the pipe work short of the new boiler location.

Your right there, Same old chat about what gas work is and who can and can not. When did this become law? (1st April 1991)

I personally wont commision boilers or connect boilers already hung for reasons as stated above . But bet you nearly 50 % of registered GSR'S would when it comes to putting food on the table. Im not desperate so i wouldnt but if i was i probably would do it.

It's easy to say you can or cant do this but not so easy to say no if your in mortgage arrears.
Not dissing the regs in anyway just offering opinion why someone would do it

An excellent opinion and I wholeheartedly agree. I would also do it if I had to,infact I would do a lot worse if I had to put food on the table for my kids.
