I live in a multi-story dwelling with a Johnson & Starley Aquair 80 warm air system. It's due for a service tomorrow by the HA's contractor but I suspect they'll once again (as in the previous 2 services) just send someone out with an engineering degree in Henry Hoovers.
They usually just hoover the lint from the slide out mesh filter which I do on a regular basis and check the electrics - that's it. Here's some pics of how it looks today so if you were the service engineer coming to check it tomorrow, what would you do? Or rather, what should they do apart from hoover the filter and check the electrics?

Is this unit gas or electric? If its electric as it looks to be then there probably isn't a great deal to do in terms of servicing.

Neither. Basically it is just a heat exchanger with a fan. The hot water is supplied from a central plant room.

There is nothing much to do on them except clean them and i doubt if whoever comes to service it would show much interest in fixing the crusted diverter but you could ask him to note it needs doing.
