Got my merchant account through today ,with a covering letter of material price increases and there are some hefty increases
Rads due to steel prices and weakness of the £ are going up around 7%
Copper is priced on request but some cylinders have a 9% increase
All foreign shower products seem to be 5 to 8%
With quotes tight this could/will cut into job profits quite easily
It was mentioned the other day about conditions on quotes, maybe time to state quotation good for shot time frame
A heating job quoted last month, with go ahead next, is going to have a big increase in material costs,siduation is only going to get worse
So keep a tight eye on your materials costing for the for seeable future

Do not think and worry only about the big jobs ,if you are fitting a couple of rads and maybe new taps in the bathroom,you could see £20-£25 on materials, that may have to come out of your possible tight Labour charge

had to laugh today, customer asked me to replace a wc, and order it on his account with the merchant, cost him £20 more than I would have charged and I would have still made £15 on it. They all think they know best buying kit themselves, although I did ask the rep not to give him any discount lol
 
copper tube gone through the roof down here, plumbfix doing their daily prices at the counter now!!!
 
Guys , copper has gone up loads as everyone is saying , went to wilkinsons hardware yesterday and got two meters 15mm for £5 , pretty much £9-10 everywhere else i look. will be popping back tomorrow for t' same😉
 
quoted £230 to change a plastic soil stack got invoice for parts £189.... gutted Terms -30% complained and got -40% but not back dated
 
unless i am wrong, toolstation charge whats in the book, no more....fill your boots.

4 cylinders and pipe the other day 470.00 would have been more but the old pikeys dont miss a trick and emptied out some of the water left in one of the cylinders he actually laughed and said he wasnt paying for water
 
went to pts they had a special price on 15mm copper a 1.40 something a meter about £42 for 30m
