where would be the best position to site a secondary pump to aid circulation in a sealed system

why is the one not good enough, is the system sludged up? if so another pump isnt going to help.

cheers 0808 for replying so quick , the system has been fully powerflushed , but it has also been continualy extended with a mix of microbore and small bore running from 22mm main circuit .I am hopeing that if I add an extra pump it will help overcome internal resistance.

Hi kevgas
Are you talking about a secondary circuit for an unvented hot water cylinder or an additional pump on a primary circuit?

might be a installation problem depending on how its been piped up.
on the other hand may be as easy as balancing the system. can the installer not advise you.

If the pipework is undersized. I would bet boiler isn't far off either.

May be best to go back to basics. Balancing etc

cheers Simon , no prob with boiler size as i removed an old ideal mexico and fitted a Vaillant 617 system boiler.

kev, you can add an additional pump to assist the return on a large installation usually after the last rad on the return, (got this info from Grundfos) but by the sound of it this installation is a mess up, so it may not help, it may just reroute the available hot water round an easier route and then leave out other rads,

could you not just fit a stronger pump?

may need to start lookin at low loss headers etc to make sure bigger pump can be more efficient and not restricted by back pressure from hex in boiler

Yeah, but sounds as though he doesn't want to re-pipe the system and is looking for a shortcut alternative. Fitting a LLH is going to take more work than fitting a bigger pump/balancing the system or fitting an additional pump on the last rad return.
