Hi, getting a big renovation done in a tenement flat in Scotland, my builder has connected the kitchen drainage into the bathroom drainage all discharging into one pipe which feeds into an existing branch of the rainwater pipe. All the flats bathrooms lead to this pipe. Aside from the fact my drawings state that a new branch to the soil pipe was to be created for the kitchen, is it against building regs to do this and will having them all connected cause me problems? Particularly in heavy rain?

Don’t know regs for Scotland, but it doesn’t sound like a good idea anyway - how big is said pipe? If it’s six inch for example then I’m sure it would function ok, but then again you do get a lot of heavy rain.....

Thanks, that's helpful. Im possibly even more concerned about everything for the whole flat going out through one standard pipe.

In the attached my old kitchen used to be attached to the branch marked green, everything is now attached to the branch marked in orange, all bathroom and kitchen discharge there and in my drawings the new kitchen was meant to connect to the svp marked blue.

Will one pipe cope if I empty a bath while running the dishwasher and washing machine for e.g?

Ta
