Hi I have a customer with a spluttering hot kitchen tap. It does it more often than not. The rest of the hot taps in the house are fine.
Any ideas.
Cheers
Stuart.

Is this fed from an open vented hot water cylinder ?
If it is, what type ?
Is it the combination type cylinder ( fortic type with a small cold water storage tank on the top),
Or is it a cylinder fed from a separate tank situated above it ?

If it's the fortic type, have you checked the ball tap is keeping up with the flow from the tap. If it isn't, once the tank is empty it will draw air in and cause the tap to splutter.

If it's the other type it could be a partially blocked cold feed or partially closed valve in the cold feed. That would cause air to be pulled down the vent pipe giving you the same problem.

I can only think that if the other taps don't do it, it may be that they have a lower flow rate than the kitchen tap.

Hope I'm on the right track here and that this helps.

Combi boiler, , never expected that !
Bit strange.
Need to think on that one for a bit !

How long is it before it starts spluttering and how long does it splutter for ?

If all other taps are working I'd be looking at the tap surely? Is it a tap that wasn't suited to a combi and has subsequently worn? I'd try a different tap

I think I'm with Riley.
I can't think of anything else.
Have you looked inside the tap ?

Could be scaled or aerator clogged

I had an airlock in a tap.

Opening and closing tap didn't do anything, took the headgear out, water and air started spluttering out, put headgear back in then it come out of tap o.k.

Like Riley said got to be tap, can't see it being an airlock it's mains pressure, have to be really bad pipework.
