Went to a job today customer had new lever mixer fitted in kitchen, poor hw flow on hot side. Seen this a few times now. Is it a problem usually with these?

Not a combi.

rated for gravity hot?

Gravity hot water and mains cold always fight against each other mains always better pressure...new mono taps state they are only suitable for certain pressure's need to check the spec regards Turnpin:D

Also check for non full bore iso's, restrictive and twisted flexi's, cold feed to cylinder not fully open can all compound issue

Very common to have poor flow on hot side of sink mixers if hot is gravity, especially worse in a bungalow.
Although the instructions might say suitable for .2 bar or .5 bar etc, you really won't know how good the flow will be until the water is turned on.
If you take a look at the inside of the mixer spout you will usually find the hot flows through a small pipe of about 10mm or so.

On a related matter, someone here recommended this inlet valve for good flow on very low pressure feeds:

Thomas Dudley Ltd Hydroflo Bottom Inlet Fill Valve | Fill & Flush Valves | NoLinkingToThis

I've fitted a couple now and they perform brilliantly. Pricey but obviously very well made.

Thanks for all the replies, customer had just had the taps fitted by a firm called kitchen magic. I was sent out because he wasn't happy, explained gravity against the cold mains and he understood. Said he is going back to the fitters, told him he will not get the same off the hot as the mains and not knowing how it was before I couldn't blame it on the taps.
