My kitchen sink has a 2" hole for the waste (see pic) but the basket strainer I'm fitting needs a 3 1/4" hole.

Cut a bigger hole? Is the inverted 2" hole recessed to enable being cut out?

Sorry for a potential idiotic question!!!!!
