In an earlier life i did some plumbing, that was pre grey hair days and aches.
Anyway, kitchen taps, do they still have to keep the hot and cold seperate till the end of the tap, ie. hot and cod do not get mixed at the base of a mixer tap?

As a plumber you should only fit bi-low mixers. The water mixers in the atmosphere. Not at the base. :)
 
Providing you use check valves you can put anything you like in there.
Only thing that really needs bi-flow or seperate taps is a gravity system

I don't generally fit kitchen taps that need check valves, they can be a pain in the ......
