Hi,
I am fitting a radiator (LR) on a stair landing that is 6 foot above
ground floor level. My only access to flow and return pipes is at a
skirting board radiator (SBR) on the ground floor. The SBR is a 1600
mm length of 22 mm steel pipe with aluminium fins along its length and
there is no disernable temperature difference between its ends. The
15 mm steel flow and return pipes disappear into the house exterior
wall and as there are no other radiators on that wall I assume the
pipes are a spur off the main flow/return circuit. I plan to tap into
the SBR with plastic pipes to avoid electrolytic corrosion. And for
convenience and maybe provide some thermal head connect the flow to
the top and the return to the bottom of the LR.
It seems that I have three problems:
1. Will the LR reach operating temperature?
2. How can I determine which pipe is flow and which is return?
3. Will compression fittings seal on the steel pipes that are
approximately 0.3 mm larger than 15 mm copper pipes.
Any advice and help will be most appreciated.
Cas.
Hi,
It occurs to me I could put the LR inseries with the SBR. Does anybody see a disadvantage in doing this?
