When doing a Gas Landlord Safety Cert, I came across a gas hob that doesn't spark when the ignition button is pressed and therefore they tenant uses one of those spark lighter things designed for that use. Is this a safe appliance or is it AR or ID?

Thanks in advance.

It is a safe appliance. The ignition on these has no relation to the gas safety aspect.

go back to basics on this, the ignition doesnt work, is someone standing in the vacinity of this hob more than likely to be injured or killed, if so ID, is there a risk of someone being injured by the ignition not working, if so AR, as already posted the situation is neither of these so at best i would call it NCS as it has an ignition that doesnt work i would advise someone it is faulty and move on,

What are we classifying a hob ,fitted since reg change, with no FFD,when required to have incorporated ?

The TB on this says NCS and the installer/business will be defected to correctly meet requirements.

So are we all agreeing this should be noted as NCS and declared safe to use. Thanks

if you are referring to a hob with no ignition,no it is not ncs,it is perfectly safe as regards gas side is concerned, you can make a remark on the report,as I do,that it is not working

With regard to the hob with no FFD,is it NCS,as a hob would be ,if installed before reg changed,or ID as,you would have to assume it was installed by a incompetent /unregistered person,if installed afterwards ? if you know the installer is registered, you request correct type of hob be fitted however only NCS?surly AR,if only NCS,what was the point of reg change, thought because it was deemed to put people at risk in a certain location without FFD ?

Just make a note that it doesn't work, so there will be no come backs.
