anybody know where i can get box spanners for for 1 1/4 -1 1/2 waste nuts , i have had a couple of jobs lately where access was tight and it would have been a lot easier with a box spanner i struggled with a large claw on my basin wrench

try screwfix

I am assuming you mean backnut spanners.
If it is actually waste nuts you are refering to, how do you propose to get the box spanner into the nut before tightenning it? And if you do get the waste nut within the said box spanner (which I would believe you can), how do you intend to remove the box spanner once the waste nut has been tightened?

yes waste nuts , once i have removed the trap i have plenty of room to slip a large size box spanner over the slotted/unslotted waste and undo the waste nut and install the new waste. i had a basin waste on a vanity basin to do today and access was about 5 inches up and arkward

I see what you mean. Sometimes, these akward positions could ''drag'' a job on for longer than you had anticipated or quoted for. Then leaks results, leading to more time being wasted or worse still call backs. aaaarrrrrgggggg.
If such box spanners exists, I am yet to come across one.

You could try some type of filter removing tool or similar? I have one in my van (rarely used), but am struggling to remember the exact name for it? It ic actually made by Rothemberger too.

found a couple on tools today but i have got to measure them properly as they are 26 quid each and probably postage on top made by melco code is tim10 and tim11

The one I have is adjustable. You offer it up to the nut, then adjust it to whatever size the nut is. Works well when I use it.
If paying £26 + VAT/postage gets you out of a fix, then I'd say it is worth it. Your problem now is ensuring you order the right one.

I got mine from an engineers suppliers in Macclesfield, they were box spanners around 54mm across flats and were less than a tenner

so that 54 mm measurement was that for the 1 1/4 nut and what about the 1 1/2 nut ?

The 11/2 are for baths or kitchen sinks so wasn't bothered, the basin ones were swapping plug and chain for the flip over type, you need to measure the particular one you are going to use, not all the back nuts are the same size. Even though they are for 1 1/4 wastes

car boots are good source . when I was an engineering fitter we used to make them .get a piece of tube to just slip over the nut then heat pipe to red and hammer to shape by putting nut inside the pipe end .
