There's nothing to realistically do but take these on the chin is there?
I've had 5 in 10 days. All cancelled at the last minute via text. One when I was already in the van and on my way.
It's bad luck rather than due to my phone manner or explanatory skills because for the last few years I've probably averaged one a fortnight. But the nature of randomness is occasionally they all happen at once.
If it was a big job you'd have a deposit. If it was for a big company they'd have cancellation fees in contracts which people would probably get intimidated into paying. I'm relatively sure all I can do is take it on the chin.
My average job is a small plumbing job, one I've not seen before turning up, where I've discussed the matter over the phone and likely price and time. There is no feasible way I can protect myself from cancellations for this kind of work is there?
