stupid question I know, how do I measure lead pipe, I need to replace one tomorrow , the sizes I can see are all in lbs???? I know a 8,10,15,22,28 mm when I look at them but haven't a clue with lead, I need to pick up 2 leadlocs in the morning , and don't want to bring back around 10 different ones as they are like £15 each by the looks of it!! I went to look at the job about a week ago but wasn't sure how to measure it! it looks like its at least and inch pipe on the outside! but its just supplying a house . any help out there tonight!!!!!!!???

the outside lead diameter is 1" 1/4 or close to it, . the only leadloc I can get this morning close to it is a 3/4 one

Use a Philmac UTC (universal transition coupling). They cover a range of sizes, not a fixed diameter so you can allow for variations in pipe wall thickness. Or buy a shavehook and trim the pipe down to fit the leadlock. Although I doubt you'll get 1 1/4" pipe into a 7lb leadlock...

Plumbcentre sell UTCs and they'll be open this morning till 12.

just come home, turns out it was a 3/4" lead pipe, but the outside diameter was just over an inch! it fitted nicely in the leadloc , I did try to do a wipe joint on a piece of scrap I had at home before going, it looked ok , and im sure it will get me out of an awkward place one day!!!
